CABLE BASIC CRISIS INTERVENTION TEAM ACADEMY

CABLE has re-configured CIT training into basic and advanced modules that will include both live distance learning and in-person training.

The BASIC training takes place in four, sequential live online modules. Participants will need access to a computer with Zoom installed on it and access to audio and video capabilities.
It will prepare participants to:

The CIT Basic Academy will prepare participants to:

  • recognize and respond to various behavioral health conditions including trauma,
  • understand special communication, and de-escalation practices to defuse potentially volatile situations
  • develop strategies for partnering with mental health mobile crisis teams who can follow up on calls to ensure that the person is offered services. These partnerships are critical to reducing the number of law enforcement calls for service and recurring emergency room visits

      This training is limited to law enforcement officers, other public safety personnel within Connecticut, and members of the Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services Mobile Crisis Teams only.

      Additional specialized distance learning and in-person training modules will be available as well as monthly opportunities for building and sustaining crucial police/mental health partnerships.
